In early February based on operational information officers of department on struggle against smuggling of Tiraspol Customs detained 9 750 packages of cigarettes “Nistru”, “Leana”, “Astra” produced in the Republic of Moldova.

 

The car Chrysler was stopped on the territory of Transnistria without any documents confirming legal importation of tobacco goods to Transdniestrian Moldavian Republic. It turned out, the owner of the cigarettes purchased his cargo from a certain person, being fully aware that tobacco products were illegally imported to the territory of TMR.  Detained goods were intended to be further transported and sold in Ukraine. Participants in cigarette traffic planned to cross Ukranian –Transdnistrian border without customs control away from Customs office.

The circumstances and details of this case are being ascertained by officers of department on struggle against smuggling of Tiraspol Customs. Now detainee’s actions are qualified under Article 362 of Customs Code of Transdniestrian Moldavian Republic – transportation, storage and acquisition of goods imported to the TMR customs territory in violation of customs legislation.
