Meat products from the Republic of Moldova Print
Wednesday, 03 March 2010
s2.2.jpgCustoms officers of Bendery Customs detained a citizen of Ukraine conveyed 1 tonne 200 kg of frozen beef tongues from the Republic of Moldova across the Transdniestrian border without customs control. The country of origin of goods was Brazil.

During customs examination of the Jeep customs officers revealed that a driver had not any shipping and commercial documents, documents confirming legal entry of goods into the customs territory of Transdniestria and certificate of quality. Officers’ checks of departmental database identified the detained driver as a subject of administrative offence relating to violation of customs legislation. The vehicle and goods were seized before the circumstances of this case were ascertained. Officers drew up a record of customs offence commited by detained driver. Customs officials supposed that the cargo was intended to be illegally transported across the Transdniestrian-Ukrainian border.

Thus an attempts to convey meat products illegally from the Republic of Moldova are recorded by customs bodies of Transnistria, and these products are meant not for Transdniestrian but for Ukrainian consumers, while mass media of the Republic of Moldova exaggerate the facts of detention of meat products, transported by citizens of Moldova from Transdniestrian wholesale depots and supermarkets away from Moldavian check points.
