The Judicial Collegium for Criminal Cases of the Supreme Court of Transdniestrian Moldavian Republic did not amend the verdict for a citizen convicted for storage and transportation of drugs for sale from the Republic of Moldova to Transdniestria.
In July 2009 officers of Kamenka customs post of Rybnitsa Customs detained Dmitry Samony who was swimming across the Dniester river from the right bank (Moldova) with a view to smuggling opium in a large amount. Giving the initial testimony, the arrested man described the whole scheme for drug transport from the Republic of Moldova. The officers found out that he purchased drugs in Senatovka (Moldova) in order to sale them on the territory of Transnistria.
Dmitry Samony was sentenced to 8 years and 1 month of imprisonment in a high security colony. The convicted person contested the verdict and lodged an appeal. But the Judicial Collegium declared the verdict to be reasonable and legal and did not allow an appeal.
